Ice Cream And A Successful Business: Wait, What’s The Connection?

Matt Cutts Peed In My Cheerios (and The Epiphany I Had as a Result)

It’s never good when you’re going along, doing your thing, and someone comes along and says, does or posts something that just sucks the cool right out of you.

We’ve all been there – and this time it was Google’s Matt Cutts who decided to rain on my parade. Or lick the sprinkles off my ice-cream cone. Or burst my bubble. You get it the idea.

How Attraction Marketing is Like Bartending

I spent a few years as a full time bartender at a restaurant and enjoyed the job at the time. I look back now on my time there and reflect on the similarities between being a bartender and now being a network marketer.

When I first started bartending, I never regularly had a full bar of patrons. I waited on people as they came in the door and decided to sit at the bar, because they wanted to sit at the bar and not necessarily because I was bartending.

Over time I developed my skills as a bartender and more importantly, I got to know my guests on a more personal level. I began developing relationships with them. Soon they weren’t necessarily coming to our restaurant because our beer tasted any different than anywhere else, but rather because they wanted to go somewhere where the bartender knew them and could anticipate their needs.

As the years went by, I began to make much more money because of the “regulars” I enjoyed waiting on at my bar. Many of them had their beers waiting on the bar as they walked through the front door and they appreciated that, they saw a value in it.

Which Marketing Strategies Work The Best?

We hear this question all the time from people asking us, to seeing it posted on forums, etc.

The bottom line is they all do…well, almost all of them :)

What it really comes down to is not the method itself, but rather the marketer who is using it. It’s the same thing with all the “fad” diets, (which by the way I’m personally not an advocate of these). If you ask one person, one diet works and if you ask another person about the same diet, it doesn’t work.

This is because we are all different and we must understand our strengths and weaknesses.

Using An Email Marketing AutoResponder To Stay In Touch With Your List

Ok, so let’s talk about an email marketing autoresponder. First of all, what do you hear all the time as an online marketer? The money is in the list, right? (Well, it’s actually more in the relationship with that list, but that’s a topic for another post :))

Anyway, as an online marketer you will need to have an email autoresponder to stay in touch with your list. Remember, you’ve taken the time to get leads for your business so now it’s time to keep in touch with those leads. Don’t do all that hard work and then just let them disappear forever!

Staying in touch with your list allows you to consistently deliver value, which they will appreciate and respect you for. Even if someone isn’t ready to join your primary opportunity today, there will more likely than not be a time in the future when they are looking for something new.

When they start that search, you want to make sure your name is familiar in their inbox, as someone they know they can trust and learn from.

Someone they already look up to as a leader…
